The Meaning of Madaket

Madaket is the name of a special beach on Nantucket Island. The name means Sand at the end of the land.  A walk through the dunes leads to a beautiful shoreline, a space to play, relax, reflect, and enjoy a stunning sunset. While sand and salty air may not be everyone’s ideal, the meaning “sand at the end of the land” can be anything we are striving for. It’s the "I could stay here forever," or "I need more of this in my life, this is what I am working towards."

Our job as financial advisors is to help clients identify what their goals look like, clarify where they are today, and lay out a path to get from here to there. We each ask different questions with the same purpose: What place, activity, or experience feeds your soul and makes you feel like you’re living your best life and how can we help you achieve more of that?


Our Approach

We strive to build clear, comprehensive strategies that combine investment management, risk mitigation, wealth preservation, and distribution planning. 


We tend to wear three hats; coaching, planning and implementation.  Our coaching hat is educational, talking through options, the meaning of terms or what certain platforms can be used for.  Our planning hat is focused on what a client has accumulated, how it is invested, where the client is exposed to risk and options for getting to where they want to go.  And our implementation hat puts the plan into action, adjusts if the market changes or if the client adds a new variable.


LIFE DOES NOT FOLLOW A STRAIGHT ROAD


Think of working with an advisor at Madaket as having your own financial GPS.  We monitor whether you are tracking your goals, we adjust the plan when life takes an unexpected turn and we run scenarios when you are trying to make a difficult decision.  


Fee Structures

We can engage with clients under a number of structures.


An advisory agreement with a percentage of managed assets is most common.  As an advisory client we include planning services, collaborating with your attorney and accountant if needed, and support with processing transitions. The percentage may reduce as your assets with us grow.


Fee Based Planning is common with clients who are looking for analysis and a plan for questions about next steps.  Fees in this arrangement can be by the hour or for a 10 hour planning package.


A commission based arrangement is common if we are setting up a new life insurance policy, annuity or brokerage account.  In this case the carrier pays us a commission for setting it up and being your point of service contact.
